We have a dedicated and experienced staff to take care of all our patients' needs. Our Optometric Assistants: Debbie Seiler, Heather Ament and Barb Robertson. Our assistants are fully trained in all aspects of optometry, including frame selections, contact lens instruction and dispensing of eyewear. Collectively, our staff has over 60 years experience in the field of optometry.

Dr. Rod MacKenzie, optometrist

Dr. Rod MacKenzie, optometrist

Dr. Rod MacKenzie graduated with his degree from the School of Optometry, University of Waterloo, in 1981. After practicing in Kitchener for 2 years, Dr. Rod returned to his home town to partner with his father Dr. Ken MacKenzie. Dr. Ken started the practice in 1950, originally coming to Listowel to play baseball in 1947. Rod has been active in the community for many years and continues to stay involved with minor sports, particularly baseball, where he has been involved with many teams over the last 25 years. Rod has also been a long-time member of the Kinsmen and K40 Clubs, serving as president for both organizations. In his spare time, Dr. Rod can generally be found at the golf course in the summer or the curling club in the winter. Rod is married to Vicki and they have 2 grown sons, Kyle and Jordan.

Dr. Krista Wheildon, optometrist

Dr. Krista Wheildon graduated from the School of Optometry at the University of Waterloo in 2004 with her Honours Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Optometry degrees. She was also awarded the William Feinbloom Low Vision Award and the Optelec Canada/Schweizer Optik Low Vision Award. Dr. Wheildon continues to have a special interest in the field of Low Vision, offering our patients a specialized level of care in this area of Optometry. With the use of vision aids such as magnifiers, telescopes and specialized lenses, patients are often able to perform many of the daily activities they had been unable to do, as a result of their declining vision.
Krista was born and raised in Elora and now resides in Listowel with her husband, Scott. She continues to stay involved with her life-long passion of figure skating and she is now freelance coaching the Palmerston figure skating club.

Heather Ament, lab technician

We have our own on-site optical lab to enable us to deliver the highest quality eyewear in a timely and affordable fashion. Heather Ament our lab technician joined our pratice in 2001.

Finishing lab on premises, many prescriptions can be done same day.
